Kinder Garden

Kinder Garden is a garden-based, developmental class series for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years old. Toddlers, and their accompanying adult, engage in age-appropriate play such as crafts, singing, stories and garden activities. Through Kinder Garden classes at Longue Vue, toddlers are introduced to early language, math, science and reading skills, motor skills and coordination, social skills and cooperation. Regular activities include plantings, painting with plants, bookmaking, seed sorting, sand play, craft making and digging for worms! Kinder Garden meets in the Lucy C. Roussel Discovery Garden and is a shine only program. Drop-In Play Dates are on scheduled Tuesdays. Call 504-488-5488 ext 333.

Outdoor family fun Longue Vue style

Lawn View events at Longue Vue offer families fun, and beautiful activities to enjoy throughout our 8 acres of ground and gardens.

Saturday, April 4           
For Members
9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  Hunt starts at 9:45 a.m.
For Members and the Public           
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Hunt starts at 11:45 a.m.

Bring your basket, and hop on over to Longue Vue House and Gardens for a morning of fun, crafts, face-painting, egg hunting and more!   

Cost: $6 for members; $8 for non-members.

Longue Vue Annual Ice Cream Day

Saturday, July 19 • 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Come eat worms and dirt at Longue Vue! Of course, we mean gummy worms, chocolate dirt and flower sprinkles on top of a delicious ice cream sundae.

Everyone is invited to come cool down at our annual Lawn View: Ice Cream Day! Between ice creams, you can play in the dirt, make crafts, explore the maze of fragrant herbs, enjoy face-painting or play old fashion lawn games. There will be lots of food, fun, dirt and real worms for the entire family!

Cost per person: $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

Dig, Do, Discover Saturday gardening program

The Dig, Do, Discover Saturday garden exploration series engages families in discovery and exploration in the Lucy C. Roussel Discovery Garden. Garden experiments, activities and crafts abound. This program is open to visitors of all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

No registration necessary for groups under 10 people. Groups over 10 people must pre-register.

Birthdays Longue Vue Style!

Celebrate a birthday by booking the Discovery Garden, the Playhouse or the Whim House. Enjoy exploring outdoors, including flowers, plants, insect life along with hands-on activities in the Lucy C. Roussel Discovery Garden. Also available for your celebrations is the Playhouse or the Whim House, where a traditional tea is served with style in a fine living setting. Children's Teas

Kid’s can have their tea and enjoy it too with Longue Vue’s Kids Teas. Our butterfly gardeners come out to teach about butterflies and make butterfly crafts while enjoying scrumptious tea pastries and drinks. At Longue Vue’s Kids’ Holiday Tea, kids’ can eat their weight in scones and pastries, drink some hot chocolate while make thanksgiving crafts and listen to thanksgiving stories.
